The “e-Skills for Jobs 2014 Grand Event: Mobilizing to Support Job Creation and Upskilling of the Workforce” will be held in Athens on May 6th, 2014 at the at the Ethniki Conference Centre. This conference is under the auspices of the Greek EU Presidency and is organised by SEPE (the Federation of Hellenic ICT Enterprises) and DIGITALEUROPE. Moreover, it is the first of the two major European events taking place in the context of the e-Skills for Jobs 2014 campaign.
The aim of the conference is to foster dialogue among key stakeholders and demonstrate the opportunities that the ICT industry offers to support the creation of jobs and growth in Europe.
The conference will contribute to enhance the political participation of EU officials and high profile national authorities in order to mainstream e-Skills issue in EU policies and to set up thematic networks in the framework of Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs perspective. The conference will also serve as a major stepping stone in raising awareness towards ICT professionals, young people and the unemployed that new skills will be needed for the jobs of tomorrow.
During the course of 2014, the e-Skills for Jobs campaign is “active” in 30 European countries, informing students, unemployed people, ICT professionals and SMEs about the vast range of opportunities that ICT-related jobs present in response to the growing demand of ICT-skilled professionals- which is currently not met-despite high level of unemployment in Europe.
The campaign comes under the umbrella of the European Commission’s Grand Coalition for Digital Jobs, an EU-wide multistakeholder partnership helping to address a shortfall in the number of European citizens with ICT professional skills, and to exploit the employment creation potential of ICT.
Top-level participation, by invitation only, is expected at this high-profile event. For logistical purposes, please use the online registration system.
