WITSA Recognizes Industry Leader with Lifetime Achievement Award

São Paulo, Brazil, November 11, 2013: The World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA) today awarded Mr. Som Mittal its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Mr. Mittal has served as a WITSA Director since 2008 and is the current President of the National Association of Software and Service Companies in India (NASSCOM). The WITSA Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who have demonstrated “outstanding dedication to the growth of the global ICT Industry and leadership of WITSA”. Mr. Som Mittal is slated to retire from his position as NASSCOM President on January 3, 2014.

“WITSA sincerely appreciates the support and leadership of Mr. Mittal over the past several years”, stated WITSA’s Secretary General Dr. Jim Poisant. “Mr. Mittal has provided invaluable contributions to our global organization, and to our policy action program, particularly in to global trade, skills and education, and cyber security,” continued Dr. Poisant.“ Mr. Mittal has presented keynote addresses at a number of WITSA’s flagship events, including our recent Global Policy Action and Trade Summit (GPATS) in Sao Paulo”.

“While we are sad to see Mr. Mittal retire from NASSCOM and the WITSA Board of Directors early next year, I know that he will continue to serve the ICT industry well in his future endeavours, including as a member of the WITSA Advisory Council”, added WITSA Chairman Santiago Gutierrez.  Mr. Mittal was recently appointed to the WITSA Advisory Council, a by-invitation only group of distinguished individuals from industry, governments and multilateral institutions focused on enabling greater public policy dialogue and engagements globally for WITSA.
