WITSA’s Chairman Presents ICT Excellence Award to Mexico Government for its Project “Red Compartida”

Mexico City, Nov. Oct 7, 2017 - The chairman of the World Information Technology & Services Alliance (WITSA), Yvonne Chiu presented the WITSA’s Digital Opportunity award to Mr. Gerardo Ruiz Esparza, Secretary of the Secretariat of Communications and Transportation of Mexico (SCT), and Mr. Eugenio Galdon, board director of Altan Redes Corporation in a special ceremony today, attended by the ICT sector corporations, industry associations, Federal Government and research institutions

The award is among WITSA’s premier annual ICT Excellence awards granted to organizations, institutions, governments and corporations for their use of ICT’s in contributing to WITSA ‘s mission of “Fulfilling the Promise of the Digital Age.”

The government of Mexico (SCT) and Altan Redes are teaming up in a PPP to connect 92.2{60f64eca3a32b5bb2ea8b8157c42bed521fa6a22c1f99cb6807b444ebbebb257} of the Mexico population employing top of line mobile services at affordable prices, between 2018 and 2024. The project is called "Red Compartida”. “WITSA is proud to bestow one our most prestigious ICT Excellence awards to the Red Compartida project as it reflects a commitment on behalf of the Mexican government and the private sector to embrace the Digital Age for all its citizens.” said WITSA chairman Yvonne Chiu.

Mr. Santiago Gutierrez (Chairman Emeritus of WITSA and SCT project consultant) stated, “By presenting this prestigious excellence award in Mexico, WITSA brought focuses on national, as well as global recognition of Mexico’s commitment to inclusive connectivity and visionary business models to implement public policy.”
