Ranjeet Kumar Poddar is the President of the Federation of Computer Association Nepal (CAN Federation), Nepal's leading body representing the ICT sector. With over two decades of experience in the information and communication technology (ICT) industry, primarily in hardware trading, Poddar has been a key driver in Nepal’s digital transformation and efforts to enhance its global competitiveness.
Poddar's leadership at CAN Federation is focused on building an inclusive and dynamic ICT ecosystem, extending digital services to rural areas, and minimizing the digital divide in Nepal. He has spearheaded initiatives such as national digital literacy campaigns, cybersecurity awareness programs, and e-governance projects, aimed at creating a secure and equitable digital environment. Additionally, Poddar is a strong proponent of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, as well as strengthening Nepal's startup ecosystem.
Poddar has actively led the Federation's collaboration with national and international partners to attract investments and promote global cooperation. His role in government advisory panels has been critical in shaping key policies such as the National ICT Policy and the Digital Nepal Framework, both of which are central to the country’s digital development strategy.
A passionate advocate for empowering women in ICT, Poddar oversees projects that promote digital skill development and create employment opportunities for women. His contributions to the sector have been further highlighted by his roles as Treasurer for five years, General Secretary for two years, and Vice President for three years within CAN Federation. Outside of the ICT field, Poddar was the President of Godawari Jaycees in 2011 and has been involved in numerous social causes.
Poddar's vision is to establish Nepal as a regional ICT hub, with a workforce equipped with digital skills, positioning the country as a key player in the global digital economy.
